Looks great and so comfortable. Who knew the old shawls would be back in style. I made several of these in the 70s but gave them all away! Great idea and definitely on my list of to-dos. Thank you!

Too Kewl!! I have been longing to make a Danish shawl and have been just too lazy to pick out coordinating colors from my stash. Or to dye them.

I have recently been bitten by the crochet bug, too, but I've been making afghans since May or so... Now I'm wondering if I have some coordinating colors of sock yarn - to make MY DGS striped for real instead of so subtle. :) I have bags and bags of solid color Gloss sock-wt from KP - perfect, I should think.

Thanks for the guidelines. I'll go and look at Theresa's 1/2 granny square, too.

I'm sandeleh on Ravelry and I just finished a couple of afghans if you want to take a peek. :)

Are you sure the reddish stuff can't be overdyed with the purple/violet? Not that I see that much wrong with the color as is, but the artist/scientist in me wants to see what would happen. Anyway, it sounds like you're having a ball and the mossy green is lovely. And that artist/scientist part really wants to see how the purple knits up...

Hello my yarn-selling friend - just wanted to drop by here and check on your son - and I'm so happy to hear that all looks good for him. I'm clearly going to need to spend some time reading, because your blog is hilarious!

Have a lovely day, take time to knit some,

thinking of you, (my first box of yarn is here, it's SO exciting!) xx

I love the kitty story! My Kitty is a pure white version of Kira, complete with blue and yellow eyes.
My vet is no help in identifying her breed. What's yours? Turkish Angora or Maine Coon?

Your beginner shawl is beautiful. I am considering taking the plunge into the lace pool. I love wearing shawls and, after 30 plus years of knitting everything else under the sun, I want to give a go at making one. Wish me luck!

Oh, and I am obsessively seeing out more of the same yarn or something that would make a good substitute.

I totally agree with the mohair fascination. My first purchase from e-bay was 11 balls of Eugenia by Katia, irish moss green, having no idea the value of this purchase. I just couldn't seem to let someone beat me at the bidding. It got higher and higher, and I kept thinking to myself that "I am making a mistake, I just know it." I won the yarn, and when it arrived from England (made in Spain I believe), I didn't even know what to do with it. The needles I had bought in the meantime from china (bamboo) hadn't arrived yet, and the first day I had it, the dog (rat terrier mix) attacked the first ball. I saved the ball and he learned that fun as it is to attempt to destroy the fuzzy green thing, it wasn't worth the hairy tongue.

I ended up making a shawl with the yarn, using 7 balls. The shawl is my absolute, take-everywhere, I-cannot-leave-it-behind favorite! I've finally a real solution to defeat the permanent chill in my office.

I have since discovered that the yarn is valued at about $11 a ball, so I did REALLY good with that auction.
